The purpose of the Head of Tax role is to be

  • Responsible for all tax-related activities and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Involved in managing the company's tax strategy, reporting, and relationships with tax authorities like HMRC
  • Manage a small team of tax (direct and indirect) and payroll professionals.

What you will be responsible for

  • Ensure the Group’s compliance with its global tax and statutory filing obligations.
  • Manage preparation of the Group and entity tax figures for inclusion in the group/statutory/management accounts on a UK GAAP and IFRS basis (December year-end).
  • Maintain and manage the operation of the transfer pricing strategy, ensuring appropriate cash repatriation to the UK, where required, and maintenance of documentation.
  • Manage the tax affairs of the wider newly structured PE-backed organisation with their tax affairs, including financing optimisation, cash tax optimisation, acquisition and divestment activity.
  • Work with Finance to maintain and communicate the ETR forecasting model.
  • Manage the relationships with global tax authorities and external tax advisers, monitoring and controlling the cost, timeliness, and quality of professional advice.
  • Identify and actively manage/mitigate any potential tax risks, including quarterly reporting via the group risk review.
  • Lead the tax team in working with the Finance and Operational/Commercial teams on Indirect Tax matters relating to Trade Flows and other business matters, ensuring they are harmonised with the transfer pricing strategy of the group.
  • Support the tax team in horizon scanning for environmental tax and similar new regimes as they emerge.
  • Provide support to the tax team regarding payroll administration and oversight.

What we are looking for

  • CTA qualified – Extensive post-qualified experience from a Big 4 background
  • In-house global tax experience
  • Corporation tax, Transfer Pricing and indirect tax experience
  • Employment Tax experience is desirable
  • Intellectual property experience is desirable
  • Private Equity (PE) backed business experience is desirable
