As the Interim Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, your job purpose is to
- Deliver critical IT projects and improve China’s operating IT model.
What you will be doing
- Technical support to the Shanghai office on a day-to-day basis
- Assist in rolling out Windows 11 within China
- Replace legacy equipment in the Shanghai office (laptops/firewalls/audio visual conferencing screens
- Review the existing application landscape/support migrations/identify secure enterprise solutions to replace consumer grade applications.
- Understand and assist in planning office moves and changes.
- Assist in finding a value-add support partner.
- Migrate on-premises services to Azure.
- Review software license and subscription
- Support / manage equipment procurement and disposal in the China office
- Support for use of mobiles to support the daily operation of the China business and dealing mobile issues.
- advice on areas of possible improvement.
- Evaluate and report to Group IT on:
- How the Global IT service provision is used and functioning within the Shanghai office.
- Whether the Shanghai office is operating in compliance with Global IT policy and procedures – assisting efforts to ensure local compliance.
- Any cultural differences Chinese team experiences when dealing with Group that prevent successful delivery.
- Alignment of UK processes with local cultural practices to ensure they adhere to our core IT values and standards.
- Partner performance.
- Whether the global operating model sufficiently meets the IT demands of the Shanghai office.
- The approach Chinese enterprises take to IT applications / security/ support / management and provide Group IT with guidance.
- Understand the processes on the ground and how we tailor Group IT processes to ensure adoption.
We are looking for
- Degree in computer science or equivalent operational experience
- Extensive 3rd, 2nd and 1st line infrastructure development and support experience
- Some Azure Architecture design and security experience
- Proven record of managing the full infrastructure development lifecycle, including requirements capture, analysis, design, test, documentation, maintenance, and configuration management.
- Demonstrable network installation, configuration and troubleshooting experience.
- Firewall configuration and management (NAT, Firewall, Web, Filter, VPN, Secure Service Edge) expertise
- Windows Server 2016+ and Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Office Suite) experience
- Independent and accountable approach, with the ability to localise a global IT strategic plan.
- Results orientated with excellent English communication and fluency
- Availability for someone to start as soon as possible and commit to 6 months
