What is the purpose of the Treasury Accountant
The Treasury Accountant will report to the Finance Director – Group Reporting and Tax with responsibility for the day-to-day management of Group cash, loans, working capital and other financial instruments to support achievement of strategic and operational business objectives.
This detail-oriented role requires an Accountant who is technically solid in treasury and accounting, and is commercially aware to support cash flow, risk management decisions and finance process improvements.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage the Group cash position ensuring that an appropriate balance is retained at UK and individual subsidiary level. This includes management of intercompany transfers and foreign exchange spot trading as required.
- Manage the group weekly and monthly cashflow processes and models ensuring that the forecast is up to date and accurate.
- Complete treasury reporting for monthly Board pack and quarterly Bank pack.
- Maintain the long-term currency forecasting model, recommending, and transacting foreign exchange derivative instruments in line with the Group’s hedging strategy.
- Maintain the interest model for the Group’s loan facilities, tracking actual & forecast interest charges and accruals, recommending and transacting hedging strategies.
- Document and manage treasury risks (foreign exchange, liquidity, funding, compliance).
- Own and maintain all treasury documentation including:
- Group treasury policies
- Bank guarantees and loan agreements
- Banking ongoing KYC requirements
- Bank account listings
- FX deal schedules
- Key contact for external auditors on treasury and working capital matters.
- Provide project consultancy support to the Finance Director – Group Reporting and Tax with acquisitions and divestments, including financing, integration, cashflow forecasting and onboarding of treasury processes to meet group requirements.
- Year end audit and accounting support.
- Ad hoc month end accounting support.
- Assist wider finance team as and when required on wider finance projects and activities.
What we are looking for
- Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- ACT (Association of Corporate Treasurers) exams or treasury certification.
- Treasury operations knowledge – cash management, bank reconciliations, FX transactions, liquidity planning.
- Financial reporting – preparation of treasury-related reports for management (daily cash, liquidity, debt, FX exposure).
- Regulatory compliance – awareness of banking regulations, KYC, and internal controls.
- Ability to identify risks (liquidity, FX, interest rate) and propose mitigating actions.
- Attention to detail – ensuring accuracy in reconciliations, settlements, and reporting.
- Communication – explaining treasury concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Collaboration – working with finance teams, banks, and external partners.
- Organisation & time management – handling multiple deadlines (daily cash, month-end close).
- Proactive mindset – spotting process improvements and automating manual tasks.
